Role Overview
As a Geospatial Analysis Specialist, you will contribute domain expertise to improve the training of advanced AI systems. The work focuses on producing accurate, practical, real-world geospatial input that helps models learn, reason, and perform more effectively. Prior AI experience is not necessary; the key requirement is strong geospatial knowledge.
Core Responsibilities
- Create, administer, and support spatial databases while maintaining high standards of data accuracy and integrity across projects.
- Carry out advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling in QGIS, then turn the results into useful insights.
- Build, adapt, and maintain QGIS plugins and extensions based on project needs.
- Use Python, especially PyQGIS, to automate geospatial analysis workflows and make processes faster and easier to repeat.
- Produce polished maps and visual representations for reports, presentations, and decision-making.
- Work with cross-functional teams to interpret requirements and convert them into geospatial solutions.
- Explain technical ideas clearly in both written and spoken form to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong command of QGIS, including spatial database handling, geoprocessing, and map creation.
- Hands-on Python experience, particularly with automating tasks in QGIS using PyQGIS.
- Solid understanding of spatial projections, coordinate reference systems, and data conversion.
- Ability to customize QGIS through scripting or plugin development.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capability to create professional cartographic outputs for different decision-making needs.
- Good organization and attention to detail when handling several priorities at once.
Preferred Background
Exposure to remote or distributed team environments and support for external customers is an advantage. Familiarity with other open-source GIS tools or cloud-based geospatial platforms is also helpful. Experience in fields such as environmental science, urban planning, or resource management would be beneficial.
