About the Role
Joining Walmart Canada as a Grocery Associate offers a valuable chance to develop expertise in a lively retail setting. In this position, you play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service by embodying Walmart's core values. Your duties include maintaining the grocery section's cleanliness, organization, and appropriate zoning while supporting product stocking and sales efforts. Working closely with the team, you help keep the store customer-ready and enhance the overall shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and correct zoning of the grocery department to ensure a welcoming environment for customers at all times.
- Perform regular stock rotation and promptly remove expired or damaged goods to guarantee product freshness and high quality.
- Ensure all merchandise is accurately priced and clearly signed, following established guidelines for ordering, clearance, markups, markdowns, and labeling procedures.
- Adhere to strict food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols to provide a safe and clean workspace.
- Keep the grocery area fully stocked and prepared by managing stocking tasks, downstocking as necessary, applying product protection, and executing modular setups including flexible modulars and new shelving caps.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a secure and hazard-free workplace.
- Demonstrate schedule flexibility by working a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands and sustain smooth store operations.
Challenges in the Role
- Efficiently handle a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts, by planning and maintaining focus and energy.
- Manage physically demanding activities involving prolonged standing, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Consistently perform repetitive tasks such as stocking and organizing products with care and precision to uphold store standards.
