Role overview
Williams County is seeking an Intelligence Analyst to support the Northwest Narcotics Task Force. This role combines technical, analytical, and administrative responsibilities focused on collecting, organizing, and interpreting criminal intelligence from multiple sources to spot patterns and support investigations.
Key duties
- Use specialized software tools to collect, organize, and examine criminal intelligence information.
- Monitor departmental metrics and prepare required filings and reports, including UCR and grant-related reporting, in line with established standards.
- Prepare analytical reports, charts, and presentations based on intelligence findings.
- Manage a digital archive of evidence files, photographs, and audio recordings, and provide copies to courts, attorneys, and members of the public according to policy and law.
- Operate the RISS Money Counter Network system for the Northwest Narcotics Task Force.
- Support law enforcement with pen register requests, information processing, and related analysis.
- Apply Cellebrite tools to extract and analyze data for complex, multi-agency investigations.
- Check intelligence information against open-source and confidential sources to confirm accuracy.
- Help maintain evidence custody, inventory control, and security safeguards.
- Follow all applicable rules and procedures for chain of custody, evidence requests, shipping, transport, and retention timelines.
- Keep complete and accurate records for cases and intelligence files.
- Provide courtroom testimony related to evidence handling and information produced.
- Assist with record searches and general clerical support when needed.
- Protect the confidentiality of non-public records and release information that qualifies as public record under the North Dakota Century Code.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in criminal justice, public administration, social science, computer science, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
- Valid North Dakota driver’s license, or an equivalent credential.
- Ability to obtain and keep security certification from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
- Successful completion of an in-depth background investigation and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Working conditions and additional information
Work may take place in a windowless storage facility as well as off-site indoor and outdoor settings. Conditions can include severe weather, changing temperatures, and exposure to strong or unpleasant fumes. Personal protective equipment is required when handling items that may contain chemical contamination, bodily fluids, bio-hazardous materials, drugs, flammables, or unknown contaminants. Occasional travel to regional centers within 250 miles of Williston may be needed for evidence transport.
Compensation and benefits
Starting pay is $25.98 to $28.71 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
