Job Purpose
The role is focused on ensuring the uninterrupted availability and reliability of Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems specifically for the Ash Handling Plant (AHP) and water treatment systems at the site. This includes managing maintenance schedules, backups, audits, budget adherence, and coordination of business associates to optimize system efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee continuous functionality and reliability of C&I systems linked to AHP and water treatment, including analysers.
- Plan and execute regular maintenance to avoid failures and maintain system efficiency.
- Schedule and conduct periodic backups of PLC systems to prevent data loss and minimize downtime.
- Ensure timely calibration of weighbridges and road weighbridges to uphold accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with contract staff for onsite maintenance activities.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and zero forced outage (ZFO) initiatives to improve system dependability.
- Implement and monitor Management of Change (MoC) processes for equipment and process updates.
- Manage budget planning by providing accurate system requirements and oversee spare parts inventory, promoting development of indigenous spares to reduce costs.
- Maintain thorough documentation and update as-built drawings.
- Drive sustainability practices by applying IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA standards.
- Enhance capabilities of contract supervisors and technicians through ongoing knowledge transfer.
- Ensure personnel and equipment safety via comprehensive training and strict adherence to safety measures.
- Administer effective work permit systems to guarantee safe and efficient operations.
- Lead initiatives focused on eliminating human error and achieving operational excellence (Zero Forced Outage).
- Maintain deep knowledge of PLC systems relevant to AHP and water treatment to ensure technical compliance.
- Supervise contractor safety and business associate performance to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations and standards.
- Promote digitization and automation within C&I operations by executing relevant strategies and adopting innovative technologies for process improvement.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal coordination with Operations & Maintenance, Security, and Stores teams.
- Liaison with external vendors for system needs and deliveries.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or an equivalent field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in control and instrumentation within power plants or heavy industry.
- Preferably experienced with power generation and Balance of Plant (BoP) operations including coal handling plants, water treatment plants, ash handling plants, as well as auxiliary systems like CCTV, PA, and FDA systems.
