Overview

This position entails the technical leadership for sensor systems, electronic modules, and mounting arrangements within the automotive powertrain sector. The role encompasses comprehensive responsibility for design robustness, integration, validation, and readiness for production from concept through start of production (SOP), ensuring alignment with performance, quality, cost, timing, and regulatory standards.

Role Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead engineer for powertrain sensors, electronic modules, and mounting components throughout the project lifecycle from kickoff to SOP.
  • Develop and oversee system, module, and component requirements to ensure design maturity across all milestones.
  • Lead architecture design, packaging, and interface definition with powertrain and vehicle systems.
  • Manage engineering deliverables including design reviews, change control, and engineering release processes.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM specifications, internal policies, and regulatory mandates.
  • Plan and execute design verification plans and reports (DVP&R) for sensors, modules, and mounting solutions.
  • Conduct design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and oversee risk mitigation efforts.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary teams involving electrical, mechanical, thermal, software, vehicle integration, and manufacturing departments.
  • Handle supplier technical coordination, monitor deliverables, and resolve technical issues in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Support industrialization phases, production validation trials, and the SOP launch procedure.
  • Provide technical escalation support for field, manufacturing, or validation challenges.

Technical Knowledge & Expertise

  • Expertise in powertrain sensors including temperature, pressure, speed, position, current, and voltage sensors.
  • Strong understanding of electronic control units (ECUs) and integration of electronic modules.
  • Experience with sensor and module mounting designs including brackets, isolation techniques, and robustness against thermal and vibration stresses.
  • In-depth knowledge of powertrain integration with vehicle systems and various electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
  • Awareness or working knowledge of standards such as ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), EMI/EMC, and environmental norms.
  • Good command over thermal, vibration, and durability aspects related to powertrain components.
  • Hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6, Vismockup, Teamcenter, and Microsoft Office tools.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Power Electronics, Automotive Engineering, or an analogous technical discipline is required.
