Opportunity Overview
We are looking for a highly communicative individual to join our Material Recycling Facility located in Spreyton, Tasmania, as a Leading Hand Operator. This role involves coordinating the day-to-day site operations while ensuring safety, environmental, and customer service standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the team’s daily activities, including staff onboarding, monitoring performance, and offering constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Prioritize daily tasks based on instructions, ensuring all scheduled operations are completed efficiently and comply with Veolia’s policies and productivity targets.
- Maintain machinery and equipment in safe working condition by performing regular inspections and coordinating necessary maintenance as per company standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by actively engaging in safety procedures such as Take 5s, Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEAs), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMSs), and hazard identification, while keeping the work environment organized and safe.
- Facilitate clear communication within the team and with external partners, hold regular meetings, and resolve operational issues collaboratively with supervisors and management.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve operations without compromising safety or quality.
Qualifications and Skills
- Exceptional communication abilities.
- Possession of a forklift license.
- A Front End Loader ticket is preferred but not mandatory.
- Valid full driver’s license.
- First Aid certification is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) legislation and regulations.
