About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and development of mechanical and structural systems specifically for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This role requires conducting thorough stress, thermal, and kinematic analyses, creating detailed CAD models and engineering documentation, and supporting prototype development and testing. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and vendors is essential to achieve reliable and high-performing systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical, structural, and installation components related to UAS and its subsystems.
- Determine sizing and specifications for mechanical system components.
- Conduct analyses to ensure structural integrity and performance of flight-critical UAS systems, including stress, weight and balance, and kinematics.
- Perform engineering tests such as thermal, stress, weight and balance, and kinematics assessments.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design reports, weight & balance reports, stress analysis findings, and engineering drawings.
- Create CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for UAS and related subsystems.
- Develop prototypes using additive manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing.
- Maintain configuration control for all design data following established processes.
- Provide backup support for UAS operations deployments during weekdays and weekends.
- Assist in operational tasks by providing CFMS codes required for flight activities across all days.
- Coordinate with vendors for fabrication and design-related work.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Proficient in FEA tools for structural analysis.
- Advanced skills in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for design and mechanical drawings.
- Preferably experienced in product or industrial design.
- Fundamental knowledge of stress and thermal analysis methodologies.
- Familiarity with manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.
- Availability to support overseas deployments if necessary.
- Strong proficiency in English for technical communication and report writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
