Part-Time Math Tutor

Position Summary

Think Zone, affiliated with TAL Education Group, seeks a committed part-time Math Tutor to guide K-8 students in Redwood City, CA. This role entails providing individualized instruction to help students build strong mathematical foundations within an engaging and supportive environment. This opportunity runs from June 2, 2026, to December 31, 2026, offering 6–12 hours weekly, with potential for additional hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one math tutoring tailored to each student's unique learning needs and goals.
• Evaluate student comprehension and adjust teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and speeds.
• Utilize provided curricular materials and tools to conduct engaging lessons.
• Create a nurturing atmosphere fostering student confidence and a positive attitude toward math.
• Enhance students' fundamental math abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Monitor and document student progress, providing constructive feedback to encourage continued improvement.
• Maintain professional communication with students and parents, cultivating strong relationships and addressing progress effectively.

Qualifications

• Proficient math skills and a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; higher education and/or educational background preferred.
• Effective communication abilities with clarity in explaining concepts.
• Patience and empathy to work with a broad age and ability range.
• Capability to customize teaching based on individual student requirements and learning preferences.
• Excellent organizational skills for tracking student advancement and managing varied learning plans.

Work Schedule and Compensation

The position requires availability for 2–4 hours per day, three days per week, with priority given to candidates available on weekends. Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $20.00 per hour.
