Project Control Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist for an internal audit role within UCC Holding. Ideal candidates will bring hands-on experience from EPC project environments, where they've developed cost reports, created schedules, and managed variation logs. This role differs by focusing on independently verifying and assuring the accuracy of project data prepared by others, utilizing cost engineering, project planning, earned value management (EVM), and claims analysis skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze cost reports, forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates on EPC and capital projects, including joint venture arrangements, ensuring the validity of reported figures.
• Review schedule integrity, including critical path logic, delay impact analyses, and extension of time claims, assessing them as an independent reviewer.
• Evaluate variation orders, claims, and contractual entitlement positions for completeness and corroborating evidence.
• Assess the performance data and progress measurement methodologies of contractors and subcontractors.
• Develop structured audit frameworks such as Risk Control Matrices around project control processes; training will be provided if unfamiliar.
• Prepare clear, actionable reports of findings that engage project directors and commercial teams effectively.
• Collaborate closely with project directors, project control managers, and contract teams to discuss findings and agree on subsequent actions.
• Ensure that identified issues are followed through to resolution, not just documented.

Candidate Profile

• A degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline).
• At least 6 to 8 years of demonstrated experience in project controls, cost engineering, scheduling/planning, or contracts on EPC, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of EPC contract frameworks, claims processes, variation management, and joint venture project structures.
• Exceptional analytical skills to interrogate cost and schedule data and detect inconsistencies or anomalies.
• Excellent communication abilities, capable of translating complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, CCP, or equivalent in project management or project controls.
