Role Overview

This role is a full-time, on-site position based at Mermaid Beach, Queensland, for a Project/Design Architect. The incumbent will be responsible for shaping design concepts, preparing architectural drawings and documentation, and managing the delivery of projects throughout all phases from initial design through to construction. Daily tasks include close collaboration with clients and consultants, creating design presentations and feasibility studies, and ensuring that design solutions effectively respond to site conditions, climate, regulatory requirements, and community needs. Additional duties involve overseeing project workflows, conducting technical reviews of construction documents, and mentoring junior team members. The architect will work in partnership with the principals and the broader team to ensure design excellence, contribute to project assessments, and uphold the firm's dedication to sustainable and contextually sensitive architecture.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in architectural design and conceptual development, emphasizing approaches responsive to site and context.
• Competency in architectural documentation and detailing, capable of producing drawings and specifications compliant with approvals and construction needs.
• Experience with relevant design software, including ArchiCAD.
• Strong project coordination and management aptitude, including collaboration with consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate design ideas to clients and work cooperatively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Solid understanding of building codes, standards, local planning regulations, with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental performance.
• Possession of a professional architecture degree and registration (or eligibility), plus experience in residential, mixed-use, or urban design projects highly regarded.
• A robust design portfolio showcasing innovation, problem-solving capability, and the ability to deliver projects from inception to completion.
