Department Overview

The UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program is committed to enhancing worker health, safety, and overall welfare. It empowers workers and their organizations to drive improvements in workplace conditions through high-quality training, participatory research, policy analysis, and leadership development. LOSH operates within the Institute for Research and Labor and Employment (IRLE) and the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH).

Position Summary

The Research Associate supports LOSH's efforts on worker safety, health, employment, and related policy topics in California. Key duties include assisting in research project implementation alongside the LOSH Research Analyst and various labor and community partners. The role involves planning and coordinating projects, organizing meetings, developing research instruments, gathering and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data, and presenting findings for diverse audiences. The associate also contributes to written reports, publications, grant applications, and represents LOSH at community forums and professional conferences. Participation in LOSH organizational activities is expected.
