Role Overview
This position is based in Darwin and is tailored for a commercially astute Senior Contracts Administrator experienced in contract administration, procurement, and cost control within the construction industry. The ideal candidate must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and the capacity to handle multiple priorities while promoting favorable commercial results on complex projects.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or related fields
- Have 3 to 5 years of experience in contracts administration or a related role within the construction sector
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of contract administration, subcontract management, and procurement processes
- Have proven expertise in managing variations, progress claims, and subcontract packages
- Exhibit strong commercial insight with the capacity to monitor costs, forecasts, and financial outcomes
- Demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational capabilities with keen attention to detail
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and relevant stakeholders
- Be proficient in JobPac, Microsoft Office, and project management tools
- Possess the ability to identify risks, exercise sound judgment, and seek clarification as necessary
- Work efficiently under fast-paced conditions while ensuring accuracy and responsibility
Key Responsibilities
- Drive commercial success of projects through diligent contract administration, procurement, and cost oversight
- Manage the entire contract lifecycle including tendering, awarding, administration, and closure of head contracts and subcontracts
- Oversee subcontract packages from preparation and issuance to ongoing compliance management
- Prepare, evaluate, and administer subcontract progress claims, variations, and finalize accounts
- Assist in compiling and submitting head contract claims, guaranteeing precision and contract compliance
- Coordinate procurement processes such as tender documentation, subcontractor engagement, evaluations, and recommendations for awards
- Track project costs, budgets, and forecasts contributing to cost control and financial reporting
- Identify, evaluate, and escalate contractual and commercial risks, aiding in mitigation plans
- Keep accurate records, registers, and supporting contract documentation
- Generate commercial reports including cost monitoring, procurement status updates, and contract performance metrics
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and relevant stakeholders to ensure aligned project delivery
- Assist in resolving contractual disputes, variations, and claims alongside senior team members
- Support a high-performance team culture by adhering to corporate standards, systems, and processes
