About the Role

This opportunity is offered through a partner company operating in New Zealand, seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer. The role focuses on creating and improving modern cloud-native applications supporting extensive data handling and critical business functions.

The engineer will be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, responsible for designing back-end services with scalability in mind and delivering seamless front-end interfaces.

Work will be conducted collaboratively within an engineering team, utilizing AWS cloud technologies, microservices, and serverless systems to build resilient and efficient products.

This position blends practical software creation with responsibilities in technical design, automation, and ongoing enhancement.

The individual will engage alongside architects and multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative, cloud-enabled software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, test, deploy, and sustain sophisticated full stack web applications using cloud-native patterns and microservices.
• Create scalable back-end services with Node.js and craft dynamic, user-friendly front-end experiences using React and associated UI frameworks.
• Implement serverless functions and services leveraging AWS technologies including Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, and DynamoDB.
• Design cloud-based data processing workflows and automation features that uphold transaction system quality.
• Produce technical designs, maintain clean codebases, and generate detailed technical documentation.
• Develop automated testing suites, execute unit tests, and support software quality measures.
• Collaborate closely with architects, UX designers, infrastructure engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Monitor and resolve application performance problems, aiming for improved reliability and scalability.
• Participate in DevOps activities including continuous integration/delivery pipelines and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Contribute actively to Agile workflows and promote team knowledge exchange and cooperation.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in building full stack applications utilizing Node.js alongside contemporary JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Solid frontend development skills using React and modern UI toolkits.
• Proficiency in developing microservices and deploying serverless architectures.
• Strong command of AWS services such as Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, DynamoDB, and AWS-based CI/CD solutions.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and practices ensuring software quality.
• Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and fundamental computer science.
• Competence with both relational and NoSQL database systems.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably AWS CloudFormation or equivalents.
• Previous work in Agile Scrum teams, emphasizing collaboration and shared goals.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills with a user-centered mindset.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Cloud certifications, especially AWS professional credentials, are advantageous.
• A strong eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and engineering best practices.
