Role Overview
The Store Manager oversees Modora, the flagship indoor-furniture showroom of GMG Home located on Umm Suqeim Road, Al Barsha, Dubai. This 3,000 sqm, design-centric showroom requires the lead to manage all commercial aspects, including directing a dual team of interior designers and retail sales associates, managing made-to-order and customization workflows, and boosting cabinetry and high-value project sales alongside daily retail operations. Accountability includes showroom financial performance, visual merchandising standards, coordinating in-showroom concessions, and managing the designer-to-sales handoff process to maximize sales conversions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the showroom's commercial success by driving retail and project sales, footfall conversion, average order values, and meeting budget goals.
- Oversee the store's P&L and operational expenses while ensuring fair application of the retail commission scheme.
- Forecast and report performance metrics for retail and projects, implementing improvements based on trends.
- Lead and develop both interior designers and retail salespeople, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management aligned with monthly and quarterly targets.
- Ensure the alignment of incentive pools for designers (project value/margin) and salespeople (per-item retail) to foster collaboration rather than competition.
- Manage the end-to-end made-to-order and customization process, including client briefing, specifications, factory feasibility, approvals, quotations, order tracking, quality control, and installation.
- Enforce strict process controls such as confirming feasibility before quotations, obtaining signed specifications before pricing, maintaining single specification sheets per item, and keeping production partners confidential.
- Drive sales in cabinetry and large-scale projects, negotiating and closing deals while safeguarding margins.
- Manage project pipelines, converting showroom interest into completed projects.
- Implement a disciplined designer-to-sales handoff system that rewards referrals fairly and ensures clear lead attribution.
- Maintain high visual merchandising standards across the showroom, including layout, room sets, vignettes, and storytelling, and conduct seasonal resets and new product launches.
- Coordinate the in-showroom concession program ensuring shared staffing, visual standards, and POS integration to translate concession traffic into sales.
- Build relationships with interior designers, architects, and stylists to generate specified project work and maintain strong client relations.
- Handle daily showroom operations including stock, inventory, and coordination of delivery and installation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and loss-prevention measures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Interior Design, or related fields; design qualification preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in premium furniture, interiors, or design-driven retail with at least 5 years in showroom management and team leadership.
- Proven experience in project-based and made-to-order furniture selling highly preferred.
- Interior design, space planning, or project management certifications are advantages.
- Valid UAE driving license beneficial for client and project site visits.
Skills and Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in POS/ERP systems (e.g., D365), CRM, and stock management tools.
- Strong commercial acumen and numeracy skills.
- Advanced visual merchandising and space planning capabilities.
- Excellent command of English; Arabic is advantageous.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal communication with GMG Home's operations, finance, marketing, sales administration, supply chain, logistics, and HR departments.
- External interaction with clients, designers, architects, concession partners, and delivery/installation vendors.
