Tool Operative

Overview

Join a dynamic team with opportunities for growth and career advancement as a Tool Operative supporting tool store operations in a busy Civil Engineering and Utilities setting. Your primary function is to manage tools and equipment by issuing, receiving, inspecting, maintaining, and tracking to ensure availability, safety, and fitness for use.

Responsibilities

• Distribute and receive tools, small plant, and equipment to and from site personnel.
• Inspect tools for damage, isolating and reporting defective items promptly.
• Maintain precise records of tool issuance and asset registers.
• Conduct regular stock audits and inventory checks.
• Prepare tools and equipment for dispatch to various sites.
• Ensure the tool store remains clean, organized, and secure at all times.
• Coordinate routine servicing, calibration, and repairs for tools and equipment.
• Safely manage loading and unloading of deliveries.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols including the use of appropriate PPE.
• Assist in yard and stores operational activities as needed.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience in tool stores, warehouses, construction yards, or similar environments.
• Sound understanding of hand tools, power tools, and small plant used within construction or utilities sectors.
• Strong organizational skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficient in maintaining accurate stock and issue documentation.
• Effective communication and ability to collaborate with team members.
• Capable of working autonomously and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
• Manual handling and forklift certification is advantageous.
• Possession of a clean, full driving license is preferred.
