Role overview
This role leads technology partnership efforts for Animal Health IT Commercial IT Value Team across the Asia Pacific Sub-Sahara Africa (APSA) region. The position is focused on building trusted senior-level relationships, aligning regional business priorities with IT strategy, and converting regional plans into measurable digital outcomes.
The role also acts as a change leader as the region moves from locally managed technology toward a global product-based model. A key part of the job is to promote global platforms while making sure APSA-specific business needs continue to be met.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with senior business stakeholders across APSA, while also leveraging partnerships inside the global IT organization to create business value.
- Supervise team members through both direct and shared reporting structures.
- Contribute as a core member of the Animal Health IT Commercial Value Team leadership group, helping steer people strategy, technology direction, and value delivery.
- Drive an integrated, value-focused approach to investment planning, program planning, and project prioritization across a complex technology portfolio, especially within the marketing technology environment.
- Ensure that the most important business outcomes are executed and tracked through regional and global delivery teams, with value realization measured over time.
- Align regional business strategy with technology investments in areas such as eCommerce, CRM, websites, digital marketing, data quality, master data management, pricing, rebates, sales incentives, and AI-enabled efficiency solutions.
- Represent the global product model within APSA, explaining its benefits and building agreement among senior leaders.
- Create a strong engagement model between business partners and IT teams based on trust, accountability, and effective collaboration.
- Promote a unified Business–IT strategy for the region while accounting for local market realities across APSA.
- Lead the design and rollout of compliant, strategically aligned solutions for regional business needs.
- Maintain up-to-date awareness of technology trends and future opportunities relevant to commercial competitiveness in APSA markets.
- Rank portfolio investments to support high-value strategic opportunities, with preference for global commercial and digital platforms.
- Work with global product leaders to shape roadmaps and introduce innovations that can scale across markets.
- Oversee regional demand planning, portfolio planning, forecasting, and ongoing updates across APSA.
- Coordinate demand intake and prioritization, and encourage resource and expertise sharing for projects and support work across a geographically and culturally diverse region.
- Partner with Finance and portfolio management teams to meet operational and budget commitments.
- Lead a team of individual contributors supporting regional commercial technology work and business-program execution.
- Coach and develop the team to succeed in a global product-centric structure, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and platform-first thinking.
- Work with internal and external IT teams to align priorities and deliver solutions and services effectively for the region.
- Review talent needs and sourcing strategies regularly, and implement a people plan with a strong inclusion focus.
- Be willing to travel up to about 30% of the time, including international travel within APSA.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in IT covering commercial, sales and marketing, and/or supply chain processes and systems.
- Background in leading large-scale technology change, ideally moving from regional or local systems to a global platform or product model.
- Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority in a globally matrixed organization.
- Experience working with global product line owners or within a product-centric IT environment is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance regional business needs and global technology priorities.
- Prior people-management experience, including leading account managers, business analysts, or similar roles.
- Strong customer-facing business partnership skills, including account management and relationship management.
- Proven ability to translate business goals and requirements into IT services and capabilities.
- Experience coordinating projects and services across national boundaries and building cross-functional teams, especially in the Asia Pacific region.
- Track record of managing portfolios and finances to deliver business objectives.
- Working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and agile methods.
