Position Overview

Ogletree Deakins invites an experienced Docketing Specialist to join its Client Information Risk Services team, embracing a collaborative culture focused on positive core values. This full-time remote opportunity requires the candidate to reside in a state where the firm has a physical office. The role centers on reviewing electronic mail and legal filings with precision and maintaining clear communications with attorneys, paralegals, and practice assistants. The Specialist also handles specific projects at local, regional, or firm-wide levels.

Key Duties

  • Examine legal records and input schedules or deadlines accurately into the docketing system.
  • Produce and verify quality for routine and specialized docketing reports, and distribute them as per departmental schedules.
  • Study and distribute updated rules, preferences, and standards from federal, state, and judicial authorities concerning date calculations.
  • Identify and resolve conflicting data before system entry.
  • Ensure proper preservation of source documents and docket confirmations in the Document Management System.
  • Stay informed on procedural developments and forum rules relevant to docketing responsibilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on calendaring and jurisdictional rules within docketing software.
  • Perform complex date calculations applying jurisdiction-specific regulations.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with no less than four years in litigation.
  • Knowledge of federal and state agency operations.
  • Preference given to candidates experienced with CourtAlert or other docketing platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with Document Management Systems.
  • Understanding of PACER and Electronic Court Filings (ECFs).
  • Strong analytical, research, and reasoning abilities demonstrating an understanding of data relationships.
  • An unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all firm levels.
  • Capability to manage multiple assignments within dynamic turnaround timelines.
  • Strong ownership and accountability for projects and special assignments.
