About the Role

The University of Otago is undertaking a significant transformation of its human resources support system through the People Pathway (OPP) programme, implementing a new Human Resources Information Management system (Workday). We invite an experienced Project Manager to lead this complex enterprise-wide change from planning through to project completion.

Key Duties

  • Oversee all phases of delivering a substantial transformation project ensuring objectives related to scope, budget, timeline, quality, and outcomes are met.
  • Create and update comprehensive project plans, governance structures, and reporting tools to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Actively identify, manage, and resolve project risks, issues, dependencies, and scope changes, ensuring smooth progress and elimination of delivery obstacles.
  • Develop and nurture productive relationships with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, implementation partners, and project teams to promote successful collaboration.
  • Manage coordination among various workstreams to ensure alignment with overall project goals.
  • Adhere to established methodologies, governance protocols, and organizational standards throughout the project's lifecycle.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated track record managing large-scale business or technology transformation projects; Workday, ERP, or enterprise SaaS implementation experience is highly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of project management frameworks such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, Agile, or blended approaches.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational capabilities including managing budgets, risks, competing demands, and project dependencies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust and influence across different organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills suited to navigating complex project environments.

Additional Details

  • Position is a full-time fixed-term contract for two years (37.5 hours/week) located in Dunedin (Ōtepoti). Remote working is not offered.
