Business Systems Analyst

Join a results-driven team at Scotiabank’s Core Banking Engineering division, dedicated to fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will play a key role in driving strategic initiatives and delivering customer value through innovative collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process of gathering and defining business requirements, translating them into detailed user stories to support strategic transformation projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across business functions to ensure technology solutions are closely aligned with business goals.
• Coordinate with Project, Business, Engineering, and Testing teams to facilitate readiness for delivery, quality assurance, and successful post-implementation outcomes.
• Support application testing activities, including planning and executing various test types such as Automation, Manual, Regression, Integration, Performance, and End-to-End testing to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Manage the enhancements intake process to provide a seamless experience for clients and stakeholders initiating changes and support requests.
• Adapt quickly in a dynamic environment and contribute positively to ongoing changes.
• Work collaboratively within agile teams and labs, supporting agile methodologies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 4 years in information technology including application development and support, with at least 1 year as a Business or Quality Analyst or in a similar capacity.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of addressing both technical and business audiences effectively.
• Familiarity with computing platforms such as cloud, mid-tier, and mainframe; experience with web, API, and database testing technologies.
• Proficiency or experience in automated testing and API REST/SOAP testing is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of SQL and DB2 databases preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Previous experience in the banking or financial services sector is advantageous.
• Ability to adapt in fast-moving environments, balancing short-term priorities with long-term strategic vision.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, identifying patterns and anticipating risks.
• Curiosity and the drive to challenge assumptions and pursue innovative solutions.
• Experience with business process mapping, system analysis, and documenting requirements.
• Effective at building relationships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• Experienced in conducting gap and impact analyses for large-scale or modernization initiatives.
• Available to work on-site three to four days per week in Toronto, Ontario.
