Role Overview
We seek a Procurement Officer to join our support centre in Darlington DL1 4WD. This full-time, permanent role works Monday to Friday totaling 40 hours per week with an annual salary in the range of £30,000 to £34,000 depending on experience.
Key Duties
- Manage assigned FM categories including selected mechanical and electrical (M&E) goods and services.
- Monitor current and projected expenditures in these categories, identifying trends and efficiencies.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand operational needs and demand.
- Evaluate existing suppliers on the Preferred Supplier List based on performance and coverage, assisting in supplier base refinement.
- Support the evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers in accordance with procurement procedures.
- Assist with requests for quotations (RFQs), pricing assessments, tender activities, and market benchmarking.
- Support cost analysis and identify opportunities for savings across FM and M&E categories.
- Help maintain consistent pricing, track savings, and uphold contract and framework agreement compliance.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal policies and maintain accurate documentation for audit purposes.
- Collaborate closely with operational and FM teams to facilitate compliant procurement practices.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a buyer, junior buyer, or procurement support role required.
- Knowledge or exposure to Facilities Management services or mechanical and electrical supply chains is advantageous.
- Possession or pursuit of a CIPS qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems is beneficial.
- Strong procurement knowledge, numerical and analytical skills, with a methodical approach to work and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with both suppliers and internal teams.
- Proactive, reliable with an ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Positive mindset focused on practical solutions and continual learning.
