Role Overview

We seek a Procurement Officer to join our support centre in Darlington DL1 4WD. This full-time, permanent role works Monday to Friday totaling 40 hours per week with an annual salary in the range of £30,000 to £34,000 depending on experience.

Key Duties

  • Manage assigned FM categories including selected mechanical and electrical (M&E) goods and services.
  • Monitor current and projected expenditures in these categories, identifying trends and efficiencies.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand operational needs and demand.
  • Evaluate existing suppliers on the Preferred Supplier List based on performance and coverage, assisting in supplier base refinement.
  • Support the evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers in accordance with procurement procedures.
  • Assist with requests for quotations (RFQs), pricing assessments, tender activities, and market benchmarking.
  • Support cost analysis and identify opportunities for savings across FM and M&E categories.
  • Help maintain consistent pricing, track savings, and uphold contract and framework agreement compliance.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal policies and maintain accurate documentation for audit purposes.
  • Collaborate closely with operational and FM teams to facilitate compliant procurement practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in a buyer, junior buyer, or procurement support role required.
  • Knowledge or exposure to Facilities Management services or mechanical and electrical supply chains is advantageous.
  • Possession or pursuit of a CIPS qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems is beneficial.
  • Strong procurement knowledge, numerical and analytical skills, with a methodical approach to work and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with both suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proactive, reliable with an ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
