About the Role

We are looking for a meticulous and strategic Purchaser specializing in tanker vessels to join our team based in Singapore. The successful candidate should have procurement experience in the maritime field and demonstrate strong negotiation capabilities to adeptly manage supplier partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement of spare parts, supplies, lubricants, and services for assigned tanker vessels including crude, product, chemical, or LPG tankers.
  • Identify, assess, and negotiate with approved global marine suppliers to secure competitive pricing and prompt delivery.
  • Review vessel requisitions ensuring correct technical specs and manufacturer references.
  • Gather quotations, perform price comparisons, and generate purchase orders in compliance with company protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel crews to clarify needs and urgency.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to guarantee timely deliveries at global ports following tanker routes.
  • Monitor order progress and proactively follow up to prevent delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of suppliers, pricing, and procurement data in purchasing systems such as AMOS or ShipServ.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and maritime standards including ISM, ISPS, OCIMF, and vetting procedures related to tanker operations.
  • Analyze procurement trends to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.

Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Logistics Management, Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of relevant procurement experience, ideally within ship management or vessel ownership sectors.
  • Experience with marine procurement software or a strong motivation to learn such systems.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, commercial insight, and ability to manage procurement for multiple vessels simultaneously.
