About the Role

The position available is for a Finance Expert specializing in Model Risk, Compliance, and Payments, available on a contract basis and fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of model inventories, including tier classifications, validation techniques, ongoing surveillance, governance protocols, and control frameworks.
- Perform detailed analysis of card transaction processes such as authorization, settlements, chargebacks, as well as ACH and wire transfer reconciliations, alongside other payment operations.
- Review controls related to fraud prevention, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanction compliance, escalation procedures, and overall operational risks.
- Identify deficiencies in control mechanisms, unverified assumptions, inadequate supporting evidence, and incomplete documentation.
- Compose well-reasoned reports that connect observed findings to potential risks, policies, and their operational implications.
- Assess and adjust analytical deliverables to ensure alignment with established standards in model risk management and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 to 12 years of practical experience for practitioner-level professionals; or 10 to 16 years for senior reviewers.
- Proven professional background in areas such as model risk management, validation, compliance, payments processing, fraud prevention, AML, sanctions, or related financial control domains.
- Hands-on familiarity with one or multiple payment infrastructure systems (payment rails) and understanding associated operational risks.
- Strong grasp of governance structures, comprehensive documentation, rigorous testing procedures, monitoring activities, and remediation of issues.
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to articulate risk assessments precisely and in an auditable manner.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a senior capacity involving reviewing, approving, or challenging analytical evaluations is highly valued.
