Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production supervisors and operators through performance evaluations, training initiatives, and team-building activities.
  • Maintain strict compliance with batch documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), good manufacturing practices (GMP), and ensure full traceability and audit-ready records.
  • Enhance quality and food safety by investigating deviations, conducting root cause analyses, and executing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards by conducting risk assessments, implementing safety programs, and managing COSHH, PPE, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Support HACCP and FSSC 22000 food safety protocols to ensure compliance and prepare for audits.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule preventive maintenance, reduce equipment downtime, and maximise operational availability.
  • Track production key performance indicators (KPIs), manage material supply, assist with ISO and FSSC audits, and drive continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in production management or supervisory roles in chemical, food, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • Demonstrated leadership of production teams, encompassing scheduling, performance oversight, and employee development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GMP, HACCP, COSHH, and health and safety legislation applicable to production environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or FSSC 22000 certification standards and experience supporting audit processes is advantageous.
  • Experience handling production planning, batch records, and operating quality management systems (QMS) software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience with root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, or fishbone diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with strong organisational and leadership abilities to effectively motivate teams.
  • A third-level degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, Food Science, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
