Job description
About the Role
NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking to recruit one full-time equivalent (WTE) Assistant Psychologist to join the Psychological Interventions in Psychosis (PIP) Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a large, supportive, and innovative psychology department servicing the whole of Fife. The PIP team is a specialist service focused on individuals experiencing psychosis and their associated psychological therapy needs. The team collaborates closely with referral partners, including Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), outpatient psychiatry, inpatient mental health wards, and the community rehabilitation team. Within the PIP team, we utilize a range of psychological therapy approaches such as CBTp, CFTp, BFT, ACT, and mindfulness-based interventions. A portion of the PIP team's capacity is dedicated to supporting the Mental Health Rehabilitation service, which caters to individuals with complex psychosis presentations, including a 10-bedded inpatient ward and a community rehabilitation team. This role will involve working across both community settings and the inpatient rehabilitation ward.
Responsibilities
- Support clinical psychologists within the PIP team.
- Conduct psychological assessments and deliver low-intensity interventions (group and individual) under supervision.
- Participate in service audits.
- Assist with training initiatives.
- Conduct file reviews to aid in psychological formulations and forensic risk assessments.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams within the Mental Health Rehabilitation service and community support providers, such as social care teams, to promote psychologically informed care.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
- Must possess the legal right to work in the United Kingdom. Applicants must verify their eligibility to work or confirm the role's eligibility for sponsorship before applying.
- Applications must be authentic and reflect the candidate's own skills, experience, and motivations. While AI tools can be used for preparation, the final answers must be original.
Perks
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Family-friendly policies.
- Support for disabled candidates, candidates with long-term conditions, and neurodivergent individuals through reasonable adjustments in recruitment.
- Opportunity to work in a supportive and innovative department.
- The full-time working week will reduce to 36 hours per week from 1/4/26, with a pro-rata reduction for part-time hours and a corresponding increase in hourly rate to maintain pay.
Eligibility
This role is open to individuals who meet the essential requirements, including the right to work in the UK and the ability to join the PVG Scheme. The position is suitable for those who can demonstrate their own skills, experience, and motivations in their application.
Education Required
Not specified, but likely a relevant degree in psychology or a related field, given the role title and responsibilities.
