About the Role

Join a vibrant education consultancy devoted to supporting students in gaining acceptance to prestigious universities throughout the United States. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Career Counsellor well-versed in the U.S. higher education admissions process to guide students from the development of their profiles through to final university enrollment. This full-time position offers flexibility with remote or hybrid working options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise students and their families on U.S. college and university admissions processes.
  • Evaluate academic backgrounds and help recommend appropriate university choices.
  • Provide detailed guidance on university and course selection, career pathways, and application deadlines.
  • Assist students in completing applications through platforms such as Common App, Coalition, and university-specific portals.
  • Review, edit, and improve personal statements, statements of purpose, college and supplemental essays, letters of recommendation, and resumes/CVs.
  • Support students in building robust extracurricular profiles.
  • Offer information about standardized tests including SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo.
  • Advise on scholarships, financial aid prospects, and track application timelines to ensure punctual submissions.
  • Prepare students for university interviews and facilitate admission offers, acceptance, and enrollment procedures.
  • Provide introductory guidance on the U.S. student visa (F-1) process.
  • Maintain regular, effective communication with students and their parents and keep accurate CRM records and follow up diligently.
  • Conduct webinars, seminars, and group or individual counseling sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of the U.S. higher education system and admissions procedures.
  • Highly skilled in essay editing and proofreading with strong English writing and grammar capabilities.
  • Experience managing applications via Common App and other university portals.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills required to work professionally with students and families.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's or Master’s degree with 2 to 5+ years in U.S. admissions counseling, ideally in education consultancies or overseas education firms.
  • Familiarity with scholarship processes and financial aid, alongside knowledge of Ivy League, Top 100 U.S. universities, Liberal Arts Colleges, and Community Colleges.

Preferred Expertise

  • Familiarity with Common App, Coalition Application, UC Application, and admissions cycles including Early Decision and Regular Decision.
  • Experience with SOP writing, personal statement crafting, supplemental essays, resume building, and letter of recommendation guidance.
  • Basic understanding of FAFSA, CSS Profile, and foundational knowledge of the U.S. visa process.
