Job description

About the company

Be part of an organisation reshaping how large-scale procurement creates impact for communities across Aotearoa. Its commercial and supply chain function works throughout the country, supporting better use of public resources through thoughtful category management and enduring supplier partnerships.

About the role

In this Category Lead position, you will shape, drive, and deliver category plans as well as sourcing strategies that increase value. The role calls for someone with a strong strategic mindset, solid analytical capability, and confidence in building productive supplier relationships. You will draw on market insights and business priorities to guide contract development within the category so that each contract aligns with the wider strategy and contributes strong value for the organisation.

About you

You are likely a commercially minded leader with experience in category management, procurement, or a related senior commercial function. You can balance long-term strategy with practical delivery and are comfortable influencing people across all levels of an organisation. You are also driven by purpose and want your work to create meaningful outcomes. The hiring team is looking for someone with substantial experience in category management, plus a proven record of leading teams. You should be able to demonstrate senior-level capability in roles spanning multiple markets, regions, and categories within large organisations, including responsibility for significant spend and broad people leadership.

Culture
