Role overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer for a healthcare group will act as a key strategic partner to the executive leadership team, guiding the organization’s people strategy across all HR functions. This position calls for a senior HR leader with deep knowledge of the healthcare sector, including its regulatory environment, workforce challenges, and best practices in talent management.

The role is focused on building an inclusive, innovative, and high-performing culture that supports the organization’s mission and values. The CHRO will design and roll out a full-scale HR strategy to strengthen workforce planning, improve employee engagement, and raise operational efficiency, while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state requirements. The ideal candidate will also bring advanced expertise in change leadership, organizational development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion within healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a broad HR strategy that supports the organization’s mission, vision, and business priorities, especially around attracting and retaining talent.
  • Advise senior executives as a trusted partner by sharing workforce insights and explaining how people trends affect business decisions.
  • Lead organizational development efforts that encourage continuous learning, stronger engagement, and leadership growth across the company.
  • Build and maintain compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, fair, and effective in drawing and keeping top talent.
  • Strengthen an inclusive workplace where diversity is respected and every employee can contribute meaningfully.
  • Oversee HR policies and practices to ensure they meet legal and regulatory requirements in the healthcare sector.
  • Use HR analytics to measure the impact of people programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Handle conflict resolution processes and take preventive steps to address employee concerns and grievances.
  • Drive employee wellness, professional growth, and organizational health programs, including initiatives supporting physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development to build a reliable future leadership pipeline.
  • Work with department leaders to forecast staffing needs and shape workforce plans for changing healthcare demands.
  • Represent the organization as a principal spokesperson on HR topics in public forums and healthcare industry conferences.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of progressive HR experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role in healthcare.
  • A strong record of aligning HR strategies with organizational objectives and leading major transformation efforts.
  • Extensive familiarity with healthcare compliance standards, regulations, and talent management practices.
  • Experience leading and coaching diverse teams while building a strong performance-driven culture.
  • Strong analytical ability and comfort using data to guide decisions and track HR metrics.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills, with the ability to oversee several initiatives at once.
  • Background in international HR management and the ability to work effectively across cultures.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for presenting HR initiatives and addressing organizational issues.
  • Proven ability in mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution in complex environments.
  • Familiarity with HR technology systems and how they can improve service delivery and employee experience.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion and the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
  • Capability to lead change and encourage innovation in HR practices.
  • Understanding of employee benefits, compensation structures, and labor relations in healthcare.
  • Experience managing employee health and wellness programs, including mental health support initiatives.
