Job description

About the company

Sunrise Group is focused on reshaping sleep health by combining advanced technology with specialized clinical care. Founded in 2015, the company set out to bring sleep testing into patients’ homes instead of relying on hospital-based diagnosis. To support that vision, it developed a novel chin sensor that was clinically validated, reviewed by sleep specialists, and cleared by the FDA.

Over time, Sunrise Group has expanded into a full sleep health organization. It now creates diagnostic and treatment solutions and provides direct patient care through Dreem Health, its digital sleep clinic. With reimbursed care available across all 50 states, the company aims to make sleep treatment easier to access, more personal, and far less complicated.

Role overview

Sunrise Group is looking for a Clinical Operations Director to lead and scale the operating framework behind a fast-growing clinical business. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this executive role is responsible for the quality, efficiency, scalability, and financial outcomes of clinical operations.

This is a scale-and-optimize leadership position rather than a ground-up build. The focus is on strengthening effective systems, improving weaker areas, and creating the operational backbone needed for growth over the coming years.

The role sits within the operations leadership team and oversees daily clinical operations, care coordination, the referral-to-treatment conversion flow, and clinical logistics. It also requires close collaboration with Medical Directors, Legal & Compliance, Managed Care Contracting, Revenue Cycle Management, Product, Technology, and Finance.

The successful candidate will convert business goals into operational execution, ensuring that clinical operations can support rising patient volume while preserving strong outcomes, provider satisfaction, operational excellence, and financial performance.

Sunrise Group works to address a widespread healthcare challenge: poor sleep and untreated sleep disorders. The company values autonomy, speed, and diverse viewpoints, and this position is suited to someone who wants to own outcomes and make a meaningful impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and manage the operating structure that allows the care team to deliver high-quality care at scale.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations for Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, and Sleep Technologists across all markets.
  • Turn medical standards and protocols into scalable workflows, systems, and procedures.
  • Create and maintain workforce planning models that balance clinical capacity with anticipated patient demand.
  • Improve staffing approaches, provider utilization, productivity, and deployment planning.
  • Work with Finance and company leadership on workforce planning, budgeting, and cost-per-patient analysis.
  • Lead the processes and teams that connect patients with providers, diagnostics, and treatment.
  • Own care coordination delivery across the patient journey.
  • Set and manage operating standards, metrics, and performance tracking.
  • Identify workflow gaps, process delays, and opportunities to automate or scale operations.
  • Design repeatable procedures that protect quality and efficiency as volume increases.
  • Promote smooth collaboration across clinical, operational, and support teams.
  • Own the referral-to-treatment conversion funnel and the points where patients may drop off.
  • Track patient experience measures such as NPS, contact resolution rate, and time-to-resolution, then drive improvements.
  • Lead cross-functional reviews of conversion losses with teams across customer care, patient success, logistics, and clinical operations.
  • Create feedback channels that turn patient-facing insights into action for care teams, product, and technology groups.
  • Oversee operational performance for home sleep testing and PAP therapy fulfillment.
  • Manage end-to-end logistics for diagnostic and treatment equipment.
  • Monitor and improve delivery, return, utilization, and cost-efficiency performance.
  • Partner with vendors and supply-chain stakeholders to support reliable and scalable operations.
  • Ensure logistics execution supports clinical timelines and patient expectations.
  • Develop processes that can scale while maintaining quality and cost discipline.
  • Act as the link between clinical operations and company growth targets.
  • Translate revenue goals and expansion plans into staffing needs, operating requirements, and capacity forecasts.
  • Create operating models for new markets and service offerings.
  • Build reporting systems that provide visibility into performance across all operational areas.
  • Direct a growing team spanning multiple functions.
  • Serve in a player-coach capacity, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational involvement.
  • Develop leaders and team members through coaching and mentorship.
  • Set clear objectives, expectations, and accountability measures.
  • Encourage a culture of collaboration, openness, continuous improvement, and operational discipline.
  • Align the organization through strong communication and cross-functional partnership.
  • Build organizational structures that can support continued growth.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in clinical operations within healthcare organizations.
  • At least 3 to 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing multi-functional operational teams.
  • Background leading clinical operations across multiple states.
  • Track record of managing healthcare teams of 50 or more employees.
  • Experience handling operating budgets and allocating resources to meet business goals.
  • Strong analytical ability, with a history of using data to improve decisions and operational performance.
  • Experience working closely with clinical, technology, finance, and executive teams.
  • Comfort operating in fast-changing environments and making decisions under ambiguity.
  • Experience navigating U.S. and European work cultures in an international setting.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in telehealth, digital health, ambulatory care, virtual care, or healthcare services.
  • Experience supporting a healthcare business through rapid growth or scaling.
  • Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related discipline.

What the company offers

  • Work that directly contributes to improving people’s lives.
  • Membership in an international team across the US, France, and Belgium.
  • Annual team offsite.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Free One Medical membership.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • 20 days of PTO, 10 paid holidays, and 80 hours of paid sick leave.
  • Monthly stipend for phone and internet expenses.

Compensation

The expected annual pay range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000, depending on experience.
