About the Role
The Commissioning Manager for Mechanical systems will be responsible for supervising all commissioning activities of systems, equipment, and infrastructure within offshore projects, primarily in the oil and gas sector. This role requires leading a team through testing, validation, and operational readiness to meet client expectations and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage commissioning strategies, plans, and schedules ensuring alignment with project deadlines and client needs.
- Lead, guide, and mentor the commissioning team to maintain high performance and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures throughout commissioning operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to streamline the transition from construction to commissioning phases.
- Track and ensure completion of commissioning milestones, confirming all systems and equipment meet operational requirements before handover.
- Supervise systematic testing and validation of equipment and systems to verify functionality against specifications.
- Identify, address, and resolve commissioning issues promptly, including corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Prepare and deliver regular progress reports regarding commissioning status, challenges, and achievement of milestones to senior management and clients.
- Manage allocation of resources—personnel, tools, and equipment—for efficient commissioning execution.
- Ensure all personnel are trained for proper system operation and maintenance to support seamless project handover.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all commissioning plans, procedures, and reports.
- Oversee official system handover to clients ensuring operational readiness and performance compliance.
- Maintain quality control throughout commissioning to adhere strictly to approved quality plans.
- Control commissioning-related budgets and costs, looking for cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and safety.
- Verify full operational status of the site post-commissioning with all systems working efficiently.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the commissioning processes aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing risks.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
- Additional certifications or formal training in commissioning management, project management, or health, safety and environment (HSE) practices are advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- At least 15 years of commissioning experience, with a minimum of 5 years in managerial roles focusing on offshore projects, especially wellhead jackets.
- Demonstrated capability managing commissioning in extensive industrial, oil and gas, or power generation projects.
- History of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and completing complex system commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, startup procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience using commissioning-specific software tools, including scheduling and reporting applications.
