About the Role
EY is seeking a skilled professional for a Control Testing role within the Treasury department, based in either Bangalore or Mumbai. This position is crucial for building a better working world by ensuring robust risk and control frameworks. You will leverage data, AI, and advanced technology to help clients shape the future and address pressing issues. The role involves collaborating with teams across various services, including assurance, consulting, tax, strategy, and transactions, supported by sector experience and diverse ecosystem partners.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive control testing, including Design Effectiveness Testing (DET) and Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET) for treasury and trading functions.
- Validate identified issues and monitor the progress of remediation efforts, including re-testing after implementation.
- Identify, document, and assess risks and controls within critical business processes.
- Prepare and review test scripts, test sheets, and meticulously document all testing outcomes.
- Review and draft essential documents such as risk control matrices (RCMs), issue logs, and audit reports.
- Evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of front office trading controls, covering pre-trade and post-trade activities across various asset classes.
- Assess preventative and detective controls to mitigate risks associated with market abuse, trading lifecycle, unauthorized trading, limit monitoring, best execution, and conflicts of interest.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks like MIFID II, MAR, and SEC.
- Perform control gap assessments and conduct root cause analyses for identified deficiencies.
- Draft clear findings and actionable recommendations for control improvements.
- Present the results of control testing to stakeholders and engage in discussions to agree on severity levels and formulate remediation plans.
- Conduct and document process walkthroughs to identify control gaps and propose suitable remediation measures.
- Evaluate the design and effectiveness of trade surveillance controls.
Requirements
- A strong understanding of risk and control frameworks is essential, with practical experience in control testing methodologies (DET and OET).
- Proven experience in issue validation and tracking remediation progress, including post-remediation re-testing.
- Proficiency in identifying, documenting, and assessing risks and controls within key business processes.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and review test scripts, test sheets, and accurately document testing results.
- Experience in reviewing and drafting risk control matrices (RCMs), issue logs, and audit reports.
- Solid knowledge of banking products and processes, with experience in operational risk, enterprise risk management, or internal audit.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards pertinent to risk and control testing.
- Experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders, discussing findings, determining severity, and developing action plans.
- Ability to conduct and document process walkthroughs, evaluate control weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions.
- Excellent communication skills, encompassing report writing, stakeholder management, and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with risk assessment tools.
- Familiarity with trading controls, including pre-trade and post-trade mechanisms across asset classes like Equities, Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities, and Derivatives.
- Understanding of risks related to market abuse, trading booking, unauthorized trading, limit monitoring, best execution, and conflicts of interest.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as MIFID II, MAR, and SEC.
- Experience with trade surveillance control evaluation.
