Role overview
Boots is hiring a Dispenser for its store in Billericay, England, United Kingdom. In this in-store pharmacy role, you will work alongside the pharmacist and wider healthcare team to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. The position is focused on patient care, prescription handling, and supporting customers with practical health and medicine advice.
The role is based in a UK store and cannot be done remotely. Applications from outside the UK will only be progressed if the candidate can demonstrate the relevant UK qualifications and right to work.
The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.
What you will do
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while following safe medicine supply processes, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
- Work with pharmacy and healthcare colleagues to help run and deliver pharmacy services in store.
- Offer patients guidance on medicines and pass any appropriate questions to the pharmacist.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with new in-store systems, innovations, and operational procedures.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions effectively so they can stay on track with treatment and reduce medicine waste.
Training and development
The role includes regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge. Boots also offers development pathways, including the possibility of progressing into a Pharmacy Technician role or moving into store leadership.
What you need
- Either a completed Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or current progress toward that qualification with at least the first year of an MPharm completed.
- Valid UK right to work.
- This post is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
Desirable experience
- Previous experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.
