Job description

About the opportunity

The Distribution Centre Manager will lead the Auckland distribution centre, providing clear direction to the team and helping create a safe, well-controlled workplace. This role is accountable for ensuring warehouse processes are followed correctly, efficiently, and in line with safety expectations.

You will also be responsible for protecting the security, integrity, inventory, and assets of the site. In a fast-changing business environment, this position is central to supporting the continued growth of the New Zealand business.

Key responsibilities

  • Make sure company policies and procedures are followed, together with all relevant legal obligations, especially those relating to Transitional Facility and Hazardous Substance Management.
  • Ensure the distribution centre structure remains flexible enough to meet service commitments and day-to-day operational needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external partners so both operational and commercial outcomes are improved.
  • Spot opportunities to improve efficiency, then design and put in place practical solutions while maintaining strong performance and productivity.
  • Support and manage change within the DC, including promotions, new product ranges, and acquisitions.

What you will bring

You are likely already working in a similar leadership position and now looking for your next career move. Experience in a comparable environment will be important. As part of the leadership group, you will help ensure warehouse operations are delivered safely and efficiently, meeting agreed KPIs and financial goals while staying fully compliant with company and legal requirements, particularly Transitional Facility and Hazardous Substance Management.

You will lead the operations leadership team to deliver daily priorities and foster a positive, high-performance culture. Strong safety leadership is essential, with a clear focus on protecting employees, contractors, and visitors at all times.

Additional requirements

  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Leadership experience in a similar setting.

A tertiary qualification in logistics or warehousing would be preferred, although equivalent experience is also suitable. Senior leadership experience in a high-volume retail or FMCG warehousing environment is important, along with the ability to coach and develop team members. Strong commercial judgement, plus good communication, computer, and presentation skills, are also required.

Experience in automated distribution operations would be an advantage.

What’s on offer

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced DC leader to join a respected business and take the next step in their career. You will work with a supportive team and have access to learning and development opportunities in a great environment.
