Job description

Role Overview

Stena Line is seeking Engine Ratings with experience on passenger vessels to join the Cairnryan - Belfast route team. This position involves supporting the Chief/Second engineer in planned maintenance, operational responsibilities, and general upkeep of ship components, including cleaning, painting, and greasing tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with assigned duties within the vessel's emergency response structure.
  • Perform engine room watch-keeping as instructed.
  • Conduct engine room fire and safety inspections as directed.
  • Assist in upkeep of engine room firefighting and safety apparatus under the guidance of the second engineer.
  • Understand and follow relevant aspects and procedures of the Safety Management System outlined in the DOCMAP.
  • Proactively engage with duties beyond current rank to build confidence and practical skills for advancement.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Fluency in English.
  • Basic STCW certification and valid ENG1 medical certificate.
  • Qualified in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat operations.
  • Holds an Engine Watch Rating certificate (III/4) or Able Seafarer Engine certificate (III/5).
  • Previous experience on passenger vessels is preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information
