Job description
About the Role
This position is part of the Engineering & Facilities team at a luxury hospitality property in Singapore. The role is non-management and is based on-site at 80 Middle Road, Singapore 188966. It is a full-time position.
What You’ll Do
You will handle guest repair requests, coordinate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance concerns, and carry out preventive upkeep on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical-room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. The role also involves inspecting tools, machines, and equipment, transporting tools and radios as needed, and identifying and operating shut-off valves and utility shut-offs for building systems.
Daily work includes maintaining maintenance stock, requesting parts and supplies when needed, and sharing completed work and any issues with other shifts using approved communication methods. You are expected to work across multiple building systems and develop or apply knowledge in areas such as HVAC and refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance.
Additional duties include surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood-trim repairs, replacing light bulbs and air-conditioning filters, and cleaning up work areas thoroughly after repairs or painting. You will also troubleshoot and complete basic repairs on a range of items such as plumbing fixtures, electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches and outlets, cosmetic items, and guestroom equipment. The job may also require programming televisions, handling engineering-related inventory tasks, and using the Lockout/Tagout process before maintenance work begins.
Further responsibilities include repairing interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems, making basic temperature changes and entering air-handler schedules in a computer system, and completing other reasonable duties assigned by management.
Standards and Working Expectations
You must follow all company, safety, and security procedures; report maintenance concerns, hazards, accidents, and injuries; complete required safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials correctly. Professional appearance, confidentiality, protection of company property, courteous guest service, and teamwork are all essential parts of the role. The position also requires physical activity such as lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance, handling heavier items with help, climbing stairs, ramps, or ladders, and bending, reaching, twisting, and stooping as needed.
Preferred Background
Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED. Prior hands-on experience in general maintenance, especially with surface preparation and painting, is preferred. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is considered an advantage. No supervisory experience is required.
Required Certification
A valid driver’s license is required for this role.
