Role overview

A growing mission-led organization is hiring an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to work closely with operational leaders and help shape people strategy across several locations. This position is highly visible and combines strategic partnership with day-to-day HR support, including employee relations, performance management, investigations, and workforce planning. The role reports to the Director of Human Resources and contributes to engagement, compliance, and overall organizational effectiveness.

Location and work arrangement

This is a fully onsite role based in Portland, Oregon.

Compensation

The base pay range for this opportunity is $90,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with business leaders across multiple sites to support people-focused and organizational initiatives.
  • Act as a dependable advisor on employee relations matters, leadership coaching, performance concerns, and workplace issues.
  • Guide employee lifecycle activities such as talent management, workforce planning, and organizational development.
  • Support managers through sensitive employee situations while balancing business needs and employee experience.
  • Carry out fact-finding, investigations, and resolution support when needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen engagement, retention, and workplace culture.
  • Make sure HR practices remain aligned with company policies, employment laws, and business goals.
  • Assist with change management, succession planning, and leadership development efforts.
  • Review workforce data and recommend improvements that enhance operational performance.
  • Support ongoing improvement initiatives within the HR function.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a business-facing focus.
  • Background in advising leaders on a wide range of employee and organizational matters.
  • Strong experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience supporting several departments, business units, or locations.
  • Practical understanding of employment law, HR compliance, and standard HR practices.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and earn trust at different levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Comfort working through competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
