About The Role
Modernistic is seeking a dedicated HR Generalist to join our team and oversee all human resources functions for our Michigan locations. This role involves leading recruitment, managing employee relations, ensuring legal compliance, and developing HR policies. The position is based in Grand Rapids or Plainwell, with travel to other sites as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, passionate about team building, and committed to a positive workplace culture, playing a key role in our company's growth.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits and liaise with benefit vendors.
- Resolve employee issues and provide guidance to staff and leadership.
- Ensure OSHA and safety compliance across all company sites.
- Manage OSHA logs, workers' compensation claims, and FMLA processes.
- Compile company records for project bid submissions.
- Establish recruiting priorities, manage the recruitment budget, and perform recruitment duties.
- Develop and implement HR processes, policies, and best practices.
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and employee documentation standards.
- Collaborate with leadership to enhance talent retention and employee engagement.
- Support the onboarding and orientation of new hires.
- Track and analyze HR metrics to assess performance and identify improvement areas.
- Travel to various Michigan locations to support teams and leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years in HR management or generalist roles.
- At least 2 years of experience in recruitment.
- Proficiency in Michigan and federal employment laws.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
- Must successfully pass a drug test and background check.
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in the service industry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the cleaning and restoration industry is a plus.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is considered a plus.
