Overview
WSP in New Zealand is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Engineering Manager to provide leadership, technical direction, and strategic oversight for this service line. The role is based in Hamilton, Waikato, with flexibility for Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, or Wellington.
In this position, you will help shape commercial performance, team capability, and project delivery outcomes while contributing expert fire and life safety engineering support across a broad client base.

Role summary
Reporting to the Head of Building Engineering Services, you will guide the Fire and Life Safety engineering function and help deliver strong results for clients and stakeholders. The role calls for both strategic leadership and hands-on technical capability across design and delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Fire and Life Safety engineering service line with strategic oversight and innovation.
- Provide technical, leadership, and design solutions across all aspects of fire and life safety engineering.
- Support a wide range of clients with effective engineering advice and project outcomes.
- Improve commercial, people, and project performance through strong operational leadership.
- Drive business growth by identifying opportunities to increase revenue, profit, and market reach.
- Manage multidisciplinary projects across the full project lifecycle while meeting quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Lead and develop teams to ensure effective delivery and service excellence.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is a recognised fire engineering professional in New Zealand with a strong record in service delivery, business development, and project leadership. You should be comfortable working across multiple disciplines and capable of influencing both client outcomes and internal team performance.
