Job description
Role overview
Royal Mail is seeking a Parcel Delivery Driver for its Banbury Delivery Office in Banbury, England. This is a permanent onsite role with a 37-hour week, arranged over 5 days from Monday to Sunday. Typical shifts run between 08:00 to 16:00 and 12:00 to 20:00.
Because of operational needs, weekend work is required, including Saturdays and Sundays, according to a local rota or plan.
This position sits within a team of multi-drop drivers who help keep deliveries moving in all weather conditions. The role goes beyond simply driving parcels from one place to another; it also involves preparing the van and workload for the day, using route-planning tools, and making sure each parcel reaches the correct destination on time.
Key duties
You will be responsible for delivering parcels securely across your assigned area and representing Royal Mail positively when dealing with customers. The job includes handling a range of items in line with business standards, including election materials and certain regulated goods such as food products or alcohol.
Working pattern
This role is advertised as part-time in the employment contract because the hours are below 37 per week, even though roles between 35 and 37 hours may appear as full-time for search purposes. The position is permanent and based in Banbury, OX16 4AA.
About you
Royal Mail is looking for someone who is self-driven, well organised, punctual, and comfortable working on their own. You should be confident interacting with customers, able to stay upbeat, and happy working in the afternoon and early evening. A full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points is required.
Pay and benefits
The role offers an hourly rate of £13.68, paid monthly and adjusted to your working hours. Benefits include 22.5 days of holiday that increase with length of service, a provided full uniform, a company pension with competitive contribution rates, and career development opportunities such as trainee manager roles and apprenticeship schemes.
Additional support includes enhanced family-friendly policies, 24/7 wellbeing access for you and your family, a range of retail and lifestyle discounts, and free stamps at Christmas.
Recruitment notes
If your application progresses, you will be invited to an interview. You are asked to keep your contact details current, review the information checklist for acceptable documents, and read the health matrix for any health-related considerations. Royal Mail also welcomes applications from the Armed Forces community and is committed to an inclusive hiring process, with adjustments available on request.
