Job description

About the Role

Step into a senior leadership position in payroll management with a flexible, part-time schedule. This role is designed for an experienced payroll lead ready to manage business-as-usual payroll and personnel & capability (P&C) operations during a significant systems upgrade within a well-established organization operating across New Zealand and the Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payrolls throughout New Zealand and Pacific territories, performing regular checks and resolving any technical or compliance-related issues.
  • Lead and support the P&C Operations Lead and the broader payroll operations team based in Fiji to maintain smooth operations.
  • Enhance processes, manage risks, and uphold high service standards across a busy and multi-country payroll environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated deep technical knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, compliance frameworks, and Holidays Act mandates.
  • Previous leadership experience within payroll, P&C operations, or shared services teams.
  • Skilled in verifying intricate payrolls, handling escalations, and overseeing remediation efforts.
  • Possess a calm and authoritative leadership style with excellent coaching abilities, stakeholder engagement, and communication competencies.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as CRIS21, Oracle, SmoothPay, or Pacific payrolls is an advantage but not mandatory.

Employment Details and Benefits

  • Six-month contract with an immediate start opportunity, subject to extension possibilities.
  • Part-time engagement totaling 22.5 hours per week, with mandatory availability on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Flexible scheduling options for the third working day, including remote work opportunities throughout New Zealand.
  • Potential to increase hours during the high-demand year-end salary and bonus processing period.
  • Opportunity to contribute in a senior leadership capacity without the commitment of a full-time schedule.

Additional Information

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, residents, or possess a valid work visa. References will be requested later in the process; please do not include them with your initial application.
