What this role involves
In this role, you will help keep regional logistics services running smoothly. You will coordinate harvesting contractors and logging trucks, improve fleet use, reduce distribution costs, and support a safety-focused, collaborative operating environment.
Core duties
- Plan and adjust the schedules of harvesting contractors and logging trucks to improve daily load movement and fleet efficiency.
- Use specialist logistics software to run and monitor wood flow plans and support successful commercial results for customers.
- Respond quickly to operational issues in the field and work directly with suppliers and customers to resolve problems.
- Monitor, evaluate, and share updates on production, inventory, and delivery performance to keep the supply chain visible and on track.
Essential experience and abilities
- Clear professional communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships and negotiate with suppliers, customers, and contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage several priorities at once and stay composed while solving problems under pressure.
- Strong computer literacy, along with excellent organisation and structured time management.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.
Desirable background
- A tertiary qualification such as a diploma or bachelor's degree in forestry, logistics, or business.
- Previous operational exposure or direct experience in forestry or trucking.
- Experience using tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar transport dispatch systems.
Logistics
This is an in-office position based in Whangarei, New Zealand. The role includes around 15% travel.
