Job Overview

Petrofac is seeking to hire an Engineer I - Projects, specializing in Piping, to join their team in Sharjah, UAE. This role is crucial for managing project execution from contract review through to final delivery and payment.

Primary Duties

  • Review contracts to understand scope, client obligations, schedules, and potential issues.
  • Prepare for and conduct client kick-off meetings, gathering necessary information from various departments.
  • Finalize and submit the list of project deliverables to the client for approval after internal discussions.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure timely preparation and issuance of deliverables like material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and purchase requisitions.
  • Monitor the progress of procurement activities and implement corrective actions for any delays.
  • Organize and lead weekly progress review meetings with clients, discussing achievements, upcoming plans, and resolving issues.
  • Liaise with other companies as required by the contract, facilitating the exchange of engineering documents and resolving queries.
  • Arrange and moderate vendor kick-off meetings, expedite vendor deliverables, and monitor their compliance with contractual requirements, schedules, and purchase orders.
  • Ensure sub-orders align with supplier engineering and manufacturing schedules, and monitor deliveries.
  • Resolve operational issues that could impact deliveries and track the implementation of remedial actions for delays.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate delays and cost impacts.
  • Maintain project records and periodically update order progress.
  • Foster strong professional relationships with suppliers and contribute to objective supplier performance appraisals.
  • Resolve technical issues with suppliers and assess the feasibility of existing arrangements in case of deviations.
  • Address site queries related to materials, non-conformance reports, and drawings by collaborating with engineering, procurement, and expediting teams.
  • Conduct routine checks for field expediting needs at supplier sites and participate in expediting visits as advised.
  • Solicit suppliers to maintain inspection plans and coordinate inspection visits with QA/QC.
  • Review inspection reports and issue shipping release notes to trigger the shipping process.
  • Expedite suppliers' shipping documents and coordinate with the shipping department for timely movement of goods.
  • Monitor the shipping process until the Material Receipt Voucher (MRV) is obtained on site.
  • Participate in investigations of Excess, Shortage, and Damage (ESD) of supplies and coordinate resolutions.
  • Advise suppliers on invoicing procedures and verify supplier invoices against progress milestones for payment.
  • Facilitate Purchase Order (PO) closure by expediting the submission of final Material Record Books (MRBs) and required documents.
  • Initiate certification for progress and final payments and maintain performance metrics.
  • Approve freight charges, determine shipment modes, resolve supplier conflicts, and provide recommendations on liquidated damages, inspection waivers, and expediting requirements, as delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess an engineering degree and have at least 6 years of project management experience within the oil and gas sector.
