What You Will Do

This role sits within the consult business and involves supporting the delivery of medium-sized and complex projects across planning, design, procurement, construction, and delivery phases. You will work closely with senior leaders, clients, and project teams to ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with agreed milestones.

  • Promote a strong safety culture by leading with visible safe behaviors and using health, safety, and wellbeing practices.
  • Apply local health and safety laws and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.
  • Help maintain a supportive, inclusive workplace that values the wellbeing of team members.
  • Put reliable quality controls in place and manage them to support service excellence.
  • Guide delivery from initial brief through design, planning, contractor selection, and construction in line with the program.
  • Support associate directors and other senior leaders by managing assigned tasks and deliverables for timely project completion.
  • Track project budgets, identify issues, and communicate risks, challenges, and mitigation actions.
  • Contribute to the long-term development of the function or business unit.
  • Work collaboratively with design consultants and other partners to complete responsibilities effectively.
  • Lead the project team and stakeholders to meet strategic KPIs.
  • Build professional networks, share best practices, and use Mace knowledge resources to improve outcomes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in project management, including handling medium-sized projects.
  • Strong communication, presentation, planning, and project development capability.
  • Solid budget management and financial oversight experience.
  • Advanced ability to coordinate activities and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of project management methods and practices.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage internal budgets and fees while meeting agreed outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and sequencing.
  • Experience in bidding and proposal-related work.
  • Background in project management for medium-sized or complex projects, or in leading smaller projects.
  • Experience during the construction delivery phase.
  • Professional accreditation such as MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS, MICE, or an equivalent local qualification.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in project management or a construction-related field, or a non-related degree with equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship and intermediate role knowledge.
  • Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme card or local equivalent.
  • Desirable professional membership with RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE, or similar.
  • Experience delivering projects and programs successfully through the execution phase.
  • Property or infrastructure project management experience.
  • Commercial and financial awareness.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and contributing within large, varied teams.
  • Knowledge of carbon and sustainability considerations in project planning and delivery.
  • Technical knowledge in the relevant sector or market.
  • Understanding of estimating, scheduling, contracts administration, procurement, commercial controls, and reporting.
  • Ability to improve working practices and contribute to service differentiation.
  • Capability to manage stakeholder relationships and build effective internal and external partnerships.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for construction and design-related issues.
  • Developed commercial skills, including fee proposal and project workbook preparation where relevant.
  • Alignment with Mace values and behaviors.
