Job description
Role overview
This role supports the Senior Manager in overseeing fraud control activities across assigned operations and accounts verticals. The position focuses on meeting SLA commitments, ensuring issues are resolved accurately and on time, and aligning work with regulatory, organizational, and compliance standards. It also involves spotting compliance risks in operational work and helping improve the company’s processes and procedures.
Job context and key challenges
The work sits in a fraud-control and compliance environment where the business must respond to a rising volume of fraud cases, including fake claims linked to higher repudiation rates. The role requires investigation across multiple systems because information is not available in one consolidated view. It also depends on timely, high-quality inputs from agents, channel partners, and other teams. Another challenge is keeping sales teams and agents aware of compliance obligations while maintaining a balance between business quantity and quality. Additional difficulty comes from tracing sales personnel after they exit the system and from keeping up with a rapidly changing regulatory and competitive landscape.
Key accountabilities
The position includes identifying, reviewing, and reporting compliance-related risks in processes handled by the assigned operational verticals. It also involves post-facto checks on sample policies, mystery shopping, fraud detection support, system-based controls, reporting, and MIS ownership.
Detailed responsibilities
- Review procedures, policies, and workflows linked to new business, underwriting, and claims operations.
- Detect, assess, and document compliance risks within the assigned operational functions.
- Identify gaps in policies, processes, and procedures, then suggest corrective steps to management.
- Track and monitor work performed by the designated operational entities.
- Recommend ways to strengthen and streamline operational processes.
- Coordinate and structure decentralized compliance controls.
- Support implementation of preventive actions across processes and procedures.
- Perform post-facto checks on sample policies received from operational teams and prepare improvement-focused reports.
- Recommend process enhancements wherever weaknesses are found.
- Carry out mystery shopping at empanelled medical centres and other branches across India to spot fraudulent activity.
- Conduct system checks and help establish controls that reduce fraud risk.
- Complete monthly black box audits to assess the quality of business underwritten by Aura and share findings with recommendations.
- Analyse nationwide claims data as well as surrender and partial withdrawal cases to identify patterns and tighten controls.
- Support open and discreet verification exercises in coordination with underwriting and claims teams, and ensure reports are shared within the required timelines.
- Maintain MIS records for each area of responsibility and provide requested information when needed.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management as required.
Additional information
The role specifically mentions support for fraud control operations, compliance risk analysis, decentralized controls, and periodic review mechanisms such as mystery shopping, black box audits, and verification exercises. It also calls for working across operations, accounts, underwriting, and claims functions to improve control effectiveness and process integrity.
Working environment
This is an on-site role based in Delhi, India. The function involves coordination across multiple internal teams and external counterparts, with a strong focus on regulatory alignment, operational discipline, and fraud prevention.
