About the Role
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking individuals with a background in cybersecurity and technology to transition into a Special Agent role. This position is exempt from the federal civilian hiring freeze. As a Special Agent, you will leverage your analytical and data analysis skills to protect national security by investigating cyberattacks, terrorism, fraud, and other evolving threats. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying patterns, uncovering critical information, and supporting investigations that safeguard public safety. How Your Cybersecurity and Technology Background Translates
Your existing skills in cybersecurity and technology provide a strong foundation for a Special Agent career. Experience with languages like SQL, Python, and JavaScript, as well as concepts such as machine learning and deep learning, are highly valued. Major Duties
- Conduct investigations into potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity threats, and public safety issues.
- Apply judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility to meet investigative demands effectively.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with various law enforcement agencies at federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international levels.
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness to be prepared for law enforcement duties.
Key Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
- Must be willing to travel as needed.
- Must meet all FBI Employment Eligibility requirements.
Education
A bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university is required. A degree in computer science, engineering, data science, information technology, or a closely related field is preferred. All degrees must be verified by submitting official college transcripts.
