Wellbeing Leader

Organization and Location

This opportunity is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the Shared Health - Newport Building, operated by Shared Health, which coordinates integrated patient-centric healthcare services across Manitoba.

Role Overview

The Wellbeing Leader will join the Shared Health Workforce team as part of the Wellbeing Center of Expertise. This role focuses on crafting and delivering a comprehensive provincial workplace wellbeing strategy that builds a holistic culture of wellness, psychological safety, inclusion, equity, and connection through five foundational pillars: People First, Instill Belonging, Foster Purpose, Inspiring Leaders, and Intentional Organizational Action.

Responsibilities

• Support development and deployment of wellbeing programs, prevention initiatives, and policies to enhance healthcare workforce wellbeing.
• Build capacity to address crises, recovery processes, mental health awareness, and promote continuous wellbeing.
• Lead daily operations aligned with the provincial wellbeing strategy and provide psychological support, education, and training.
• Implement and administer a Critical Incident Stress Response Program spanning a broad spectrum of services.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare organizations, occupational health and safety teams, government health bodies, and other stakeholders.

Experience and Skills Requirements

• Five or more years of experience within healthcare systems or related healthcare roles.
• Clinical background with expertise in trauma-informed and strength-based approaches, adept at managing Critical Incident Stress Response both individually and in groups.
• In-depth knowledge of mental health strategies, workplace stress, operational injuries, and psychological safety.
• Experience implementing equity, diversity, and inclusion focused programs.
• Proven sensitivity and collaboration with Indigenous communities and culturally diverse groups.
• Capable of offering psychological support in-person and virtually.
• Familiarity with Manitoba public healthcare services.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and virtual communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams.

Education & Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in health-related disciplines like Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Public Health, or similar fields.
• Relevant combinations of education and experience considered.
• Active membership in applicable professional regulatory bodies.
• Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Additional Qualifications

• Clinical competence in consultation, assessments, trauma-informed care, and Critical Incident Stress Response.
• Advanced training with evidence-based best practices in mental health and crisis response.
• Effective coaching and facilitation for professional training programs.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and change management skills to influence healthcare professionals across disciplines.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative environment and ability to manage sensitive information empathetically.
• Ability to understand the systemic dynamics affecting wellbeing within healthcare ecosystems.
• Cultural safety training including Indigenous awareness will be required; knowledge or fluency in Indigenous languages is advantageous.
• English fluency mandatory; bilingualism in French is a plus.

Work Conditions

• Standard office setting with frequent meetings.
• Travel within service areas requiring valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
• Occasional evening and weekend duties.
