About the Role
The Engineer Fire Services position is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of the fire station and ensuring that all fire safety equipment and vehicles are operational and available. The role focuses on controlling and mitigating fire incidents by adhering to established fire safety policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and comply with fire safety policies, processes, and maintenance programs to ensure effective fire safety services.
- Stay updated with the latest practices and trends in fire safety to contribute effectively to the organization.
- Investigate all fire-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Support plant-level fire safety audits and implement corrective actions to address gaps.
- Maintain and update Risk Assessment documentation to guarantee proper fire prevention measures are in place.
- Organize and conduct daily fire drills to ensure preparedness for fire emergencies.
- Identify potential hazards and apply appropriate firefighting strategies tailored to specific sites such as tanks, processes, or marine scenarios.
- Provide prompt response during emergencies, exercise incident command and control, and coordinate resource mobilization for mitigation.
- Operate firefighting equipment and collaborate with emergency responders and incident commanders for efficient emergency management.
- Develop training programs to increase fire awareness and capability among fire executives and site employees.
- Ensure all firefighting equipment, vehicles, and communication systems are maintained and ready for immediate use.
- Report and address non-compliance issues by implementing corrective measures.
- Maintain logs and documentation related to fire safety operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Educational qualifications such as a Bachelor of Engineering in Fire, Diploma in Engineering, Bachelor of Science with Station Officer Course, Grad I (IFE UK or India), or Sub Officer Course are required.
- Strong expertise in fire safety management and emergency response techniques.
- Proficient in operating various firefighting equipment and managing consumables and resources for emergencies.
- Familiarity with SAP systems and ability to navigate relevant transactions.
- Demonstrate behavioral skills including teamwork, delegation, effective communication, time management, planning, and decision-making.
