Section Engineer Civil

About the Role

The position of Section Engineer (Civil) is focused on supervising and managing civil construction operations for railway infrastructure projects. This role emphasizes maintaining quality, safety standards, and timely delivery while aligning with project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee civil construction tasks involving railway formation, embankments, cuttings, bridges, culverts, station buildings, and drainage systems.
• Monitor daily site activities ensuring they meet approved design drawings, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks.
• Coordinate effectively with contractors, consultants, and all involved stakeholders to facilitate smooth project progress.
• Prepare progress updates including daily, weekly, and monthly reports reflecting work status.
• Perform site inspections guaranteeing compliance with safety, environmental protocols, and quality requirements.
• Validate measurement data, contractor billing, and quantity calculations.
• Assist in resolving technical challenges encountered during project implementation.
• Supervise material quality checks and testing, ensuring adherence to pertinent railway standards and regulations.
• Ensure assigned tasks are executed within stipulated budgets and deadlines.
• Support project documentation processes and maintain comprehensive records and reporting for management purposes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from an accredited university.
• At least 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with 2 to 3 years specifically in railway infrastructure projects.
• Experience in construction supervision, quality management, and contract administration within railway contexts is preferred.
• Knowledge of Indian Railways, Metro Rail, RDSO, or similar railway codes and standards is desirable.

Skills and Competencies

• Familiarity with railway civil engineering practices and standards.
• Understanding of quality control and construction supervision techniques.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project monitoring software tools.
• Strong interpersonal, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
• Adept at working within multidisciplinary team environments.
