Role Overview
The Power Conversion Systems (PCS) Engineer leads design, development, integration, validation, and optimization of PCS utilized in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy setups, and grid-connected power networks. This position emphasizes efficient, safe power transformation between AC and DC, ensuring operational reliability and adherence to grid standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive PCS architectures including inverters, converters, transformers, and related power electronics components.
- Conduct system sizing, electrical computations, and select appropriate components.
- Develop and assess single-line diagrams (SLD), schematics, and detailed technical specs.
- Perform simulations using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP, and PLECS.
- Assist in the formulation of control algorithms for grid synchronization, power quality maintenance, and energy management.
- Collaborate with Battery Management System (BMS), Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA, and electrical engineering teams to integrate systems.
- Handle Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and troubleshooting processes.
- Ensure compliance with grid codes and standards including IEC, IEEE, and UL.
- Analyze overall system performance, diagnose faults, and implement corrective measures.
- Support vendor selection, engage in technical discussions, and validate product qualifications.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in power electronics design, PCS architecture and integration.
- Thorough understanding of grid compliance and grid-tied inverter technology.
- Proficiency with simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP, and PLECS.
Educational & Experiential Requirements
Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, or a closely related discipline.
