Role Overview
The Inventory Deployment Analyst (IDA) is a key role within our Merchandise, Planning and Allocation (MP&A) department — the analytical core that ensures the right products reach the right places at the right times and prices. As an IDA, you will manage the movement of merchandise from Distribution Centers to stores or fulfillment centers, focusing on an assigned product category. Your work will be data-driven and requires close collaboration across multiple teams within retail operations. This role reports to a Manager or Senior Inventory Planner.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive inventory deployment strategy, taking into account demand forecasts at both store and product levels.
- Collaborate with supply chain planners, operational staff, and distribution teams to communicate priorities and resolve issues, ensuring timely delivery of merchandise to stores and fulfillment centers.
- Assess minimum placement quantities across various store types and analyze their effects on product allocation, in partnership with Space Planning.
- Work alongside Inventory Planners to determine purchase order quantities based on merchandise plans, ensuring alignment with production capacities and schedules.
- Comprehend and apply product strategies aligned with Merchant team assortment objectives.
- Regularly communicate inventory status to influence strategic business decisions on weekly, monthly, and quarterly timeframes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Preferred experience in inventory management or retail supply chain operations.
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize new software; familiar with Manugistics/JDA, SAP, MicroStrategy, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret quantitative data and translate it into business insights.
- Problem-solving aptitude to recommend and implement improvements collaboratively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a results-driven mindset and ability to make timely recommendations.
